Before the visit
Collect previous service reports and any known system drawing. Identify gates, pets, landscaping and vehicle-access restrictions. Tell the provider if the tank location or access points are uncertain.
Leave hazardous work to the crew
Do not lift covers, enter tanks, probe the ground or try to expose damaged components. Keep children and animals away from the work area and follow the provider's property-specific access instructions.
Before authorizing extras
Ask how additional work will be communicated, who can approve it and whether findings will be recorded. Clarify whether the visit includes pumping, inspection or both and whether restoration is included.
Before booking
If you are unsure whether the property uses septic or public sewer, say so; confirming that first can prevent an unsuitable service appointment.
