Start with an assessment of the whole system
Persistent wet ground near the system deserves attention, but it is not enough to choose a repair. Tell the provider whether the area changes after rain, whether fixtures are backing up and whether the tank has recently been serviced. Keep people and pets away from suspected wastewater.
Pumping and drainfield repair are different work
A pump-out may be part of service, but it does not establish that the drainfield is functioning correctly. Ask how the proposed investigation distinguishes a component fault, loading issue or field problem. Avoid paying for a promised quick fix without a clear explanation of the findings.
Plan for the property, permits and restoration
Discuss access, existing landscaping and any site limitations before comparing proposals. Ask who handles permitting and design requirements and what the final restoration includes. Confirm the approved scope before excavation or replacement begins.
