An alarm needs assessment
An alarm can indicate a condition that needs attention; it does not by itself identify a failed pump. Record when the alarm started, whether there was a recent outage, and any change in household drainage. Share the system type or controller model if it is visible without opening equipment.
Describe the problem safely
Avoid opening tanks or electrical enclosures, reaching into chambers, or attempting to bypass a control. Keep people and pets away from wastewater. If drainage is backing up, limit water use and contact a qualified provider directly for available response options.
Compare the proposed solution
Ask whether the assessment covers controls, floats, power supply and pump operation, and which items require another qualified trade. Confirm the replacement specification, labor, access and restart checks. Request an explanation before approving a pump replacement based only on an alarm.
